2025 Jetour T2 Review: A Budget Off-Roader with Big Ambitions

image

In a market flooded with cookie-cutter SUVs, the 2025 Jetour T2 arrives as a refreshing alternative - a boldly styled crossover that offers surprising capability without the premium price tag. This isn't just another budget offering - it's a statement that adventure doesn't need to break the bank.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Pull up in the new Jetour T2, and you'll turn more heads than you might expect. Its angular, almost concept-car styling stands out in traffic, with a front fascia that's both distinctive and purposeful. The bold LED lighting signature creates a futuristic face, while the contrasting roof and chunky wheel arches give it a rugged, ready-for-anything stance.

The body features sharp character lines and interesting surface details that catch the light in unexpected ways. Those roof rails aren't just for show - they're ready to carry your adventure gear. The overall effect? A crossover that looks considerably more expensive and adventurous than its price tag suggests.

INSIDE THE CABIN

Slide into the driver's seat and the T2 welcomes you with an interior that balances technology with usability. The panoramic sunroof floods the cabin with natural light, making the already spacious interior feel even more airy. The flat-bottomed steering wheel is wrapped in soft-touch materials, while the seats offer surprising comfort for long journeys.

The floating center touchscreen handles most functions, but Jetour has wisely retained physical controls for climate and essential features. The digital instrument cluster is clear and customizable without being overwhelming. Yes, there are some hard plastics if you go looking for them, but they're mostly in places you rarely touch.

And speaking of practical matters - this crossover excels at family duties. The rear seats offer genuine space for adults, while the split-folding function reveals a cargo area that shames some larger SUVs. Clever storage compartments throughout the cabin keep your small items organized.

THE HEART OF THE MATTER

Under the sculpted hood lies a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 197 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque - respectable figures that balance performance with efficiency. The engine is responsive throughout the rev range with minimal turbo lag.

The seven-speed dual-clutch transmission offers quick shifts when you want them and smooth operation when cruising. The available all-wheel-drive system doesn't pretend to make this an off-roader, but it provides genuine confidence on sandy roads and during the occasional UAE downpour. Multiple drive modes allow you to prioritize efficiency or responsiveness depending on your mood.

THE DRIVE

Press the starter button and the engine comes to life with a refined hum that's neither too muted nor artificially sporty. Select Sport mode and the throttle response sharpens, the steering weights up, and the transmission holds gears longer for a more engaging experience.

The acceleration won't pin you to your seat, but it's certainly capable. 0-100 km/h arrives in around 8.2 seconds - perfectly adequate for merging onto Sheikh Zayed Road or making a quick overtake. Power delivery is smooth and predictable rather than thrilling.

But straight-line speed isn't the T2's primary talent. The well-tuned suspension strikes a commendable balance between comfort and control. Body roll is kept in check through corners, while the direct steering provides more feedback than many competitors. It's not a sports car by any stretch, but there's an underlying competence that makes it surprisingly enjoyable to drive.

Switch to Eco mode, and the Jetour T2 settles down nicely, softening throttle response and optimizing the transmission for efficiency. It's this versatility that makes the T2 appealing - capable enough for weekend adventures but refined enough for the daily commute.

LIVING WITH IT

For a vehicle at this price point, the Jetour T2 is impressively easy to live with. The visibility is excellent thanks to large windows and a comprehensive camera system, the turning circle is tight enough for mall parking, and the suite of driver assistance systems includes features often reserved for more expensive vehicles.

Fuel economy is a genuine strength here. The official figures suggest around 7.8 liters/100km combined, making this one of the more efficient turbocharged crossovers in its class. The start-stop system operates smoothly, and the hybrid variant (coming later in 2025) promises to improve these figures further.

THE VERDICT

The 2025 Jetour T2 isn't just a value proposition - it's a genuinely competent crossover that proves you don't need to spend premium money for a capable, well-equipped vehicle. It says you're smart enough to look beyond established brands. It says you value substance and style in equal measure.

At around AED 89,000 to start, it represents tremendous value. For something that can handle a desert camping trip near Al Qudra and tackle Dubai Marina traffic with equal capability, it's difficult to fault the price-to-performance ratio. Plus, you get the satisfaction of driving something distinctive on roads increasingly dominated by the same few crossovers.
